Freeport, Bahamas – The holiday celebration season officially kicks off this Saturday, December 1st and the Grand Bahama Children’s Home is ready to usher in the spirit of Christmas at its 3rd Annual Christmas Carnival.

Organized by The Friends of Grand Bahama Children’s Home, the Christmas Carnival is the home’s annual December fund-raiser and a wonderful family event.   Hosted on the grounds of the Home, located in the back of town on Tripp Lane, the home will open its ground from 2-6pm,

This year there is no entrance fee for the fair and the planners have organized great games for the children, including Christmas-cookie decorating, face painting and of course bouncy castles. This year’s event will feature an array of food with traditional fair burgers and hot dogs, but also Bahamian delicacies, such as conch fritters, fried chicken, mac & cheese, peas & rice and lots of fresh baked goods.  There will also be a Sands tent, providing refreshments for all.

Executive Director of The Grand Bahama Children’s Home Sheila Smith is looking forward to the event and invites residents to support the home. “The Christmas Carnival is our major fundraiser this year and a joyous event for the children who live here.  We are very thankful for the support of the community and we invite everyone to come and celebrate the Christmas season with us this Saturday,” said Smith. “The funds raised at the event contribute to the operation of the home, the money keeps our doors open.”

Organizers will also host a fundraising raffle, with prizes from Pelican Bay Resort, Balearia, Aliv, Goombayland, and local restaurants.  This year the team has organized a much anticipated Junkanoo Rush out and well-known DJ, Steele will be in attendance to entertain everyone.  Rumor also has it that children may be able to to catch a glimpse of the jolly old man with the long, white beard.
