Grand Bahama, Bahamas - Officers at the Central Detective Unit along with officers at the Eight Mile Rock Police Division are continuing their investigation into an incident that left a male suspect believed to be in his late thirties detained at the Rand Memorial Hospital in ‘stable’ condition.
It was during the late afternoon at approximately 5:30pm today, Thursday 29th December, 2011 when a female officer on duty in the area of North Sapodilla Road in Hanna Hill Eight Mile Rock observed the suspect swinging a cutlass in a threatening manner towards three young boys. The officer approached the suspect and told him to cease his behavior and the children to leave the area. The man continued his behavior which resulted in other officers responding to the scene. The suspect ignored the command given repeatedly by the officers and continued towards the first officer in a threatening manner with the cutlass. After refusing to stop or put the cutlass down, an officer discharged the service revolver hitting the suspect in the right arm.
He was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Disorderly Behavior and taken into police custody along with the cutlass. The suspect was transported to the aforementioned hospital for medical attention.
Additionally, the officers are also investigating the report of the damage caused to the windshield of a 1990 Cherokee Jeep and also to the window to a home in the area by the suspect prior to the arrival of the police.
