Grand Bahama – The Grand Bahama Sailing Club (GBSC) welcomes everyone to Curry Night on Friday 5th June, 2015.  Back by popular demand, this is a family friendly event.

This is a light hearted, fun, foody night where anyone can bring their best curry and enter the competition.  Or, if you don’t cook, but love curry, people can come along and eat safely knowing they are supporting an organization that makes great things happen for children in this community.

Curries should be brought between 5:30pm and 6:30pm in a disposable foil tray, either half or full chafing dish size, which will be kept warm.  Each curry will be given a secret number so voting will be based on culinary merit.

Food will be served at 7pm.  People can bring family and friends to enjoy many nationalities cuisines and celebrate the holiday weekend. The best restaurants on the island are providing the side dishes.

People can vote, before 9pm, for either the best meat or the best vegetarian curry.  The winners will be announced at 9:30pm and will receive vouchers to local restaurants and a bottle of wine donated by Bristol Wines and Spirits.  GBSC is grateful to Banana Bay, Pisces, Sabor and Garden Delite for their support.  It should be noted that restaurants will not be entering the competition.

The décor for the evening is being attended to by the talented Maninder Versolatto and the music will be an eclectic mix of drum and bass, bhangra and light techno fusion funk and soul.

For members, tickets will be $5 if curry is brought and $15 without.  Tickets for non-members bringing curry will be $10 and $20 without. This event is a fundraiser for the Grand Bahama Sailing Club that is striving to build up the youth sailing and social programme.  The Junior Instructor Bootcamp (JIB), announced only two weeks ago, is now full and one of the four Summer Camps is also full, with names being placed on a waiting list for both.  Children from every school on the island have places.   The remaining three camps, are almost full and anyone who wishes to secure a place should contact Jackie Dack, on 727-7245.

Additionally, GBSC will host a three week After School Sailing Session from 25th May to 12th June.   Directed by Nick Rolle and his assistants, it is open to anyone who wants to a short session to try out sailing before summer, take any make up lessons and for any child who would like a second chance in a calm setting with a low instructor to student ratio.
