Freeport, Bahamas – Grand Bahama is set to host the 10th International Women’s Summit this weekend when the delegation of 24 women cruises into our port from Florida via the Grand Celebration for what is anticipated to be a grand mission. Under the Theme: “Greater Empowerment In 2019,” the summit, which is being held for the first time in The Bahamas, promises to be a time of vision, purpose, impartation, missions and networking between women from local church assemblies around the island and those who have converged from around the world. The powerful women of God hail from as far as Canada, Antigua, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and the United States of America and will arrive for the day-long summit on Sunday, August 11th which will be held at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Hawksbill. The delegation’s power-packed itinerary will include a tour of the island, succulent Bahamian delicacies, a visit to the Columbus House for Girls and a three-hour summit. The women whose background vary from authors to teachers, pastors, prophetesses, entrepreneurs, missionaries, apostles, accountants, health and wellness specialist and recording artist, are all excited about what is about to take place on the island as a result of this historic summit. “We are truly positioned for this purpose to execute His plans, His purposes and His pursuits for Grand Bahama,” Pastor Barbel said Overseer Rev. Toi A. Barbel, pastor of International Gospel Center in St. Thomas. Local organizer, Rev. Alice Ferguson, who is associate minister and Women’s Ministry Leader at the host church, deems it a privilege to be able to partner with the women from other countries and to share kingdom experiences and knowledge of the word of God. “We are excited to have these great women of God from various nations come to our shores to celebrate their 10th International Summit. We're expecting God to use them and to move supernaturally among us with miracles signs and wonders. It's a time for empowerment. A time to share and a time to network in the Kingdom of God,” she said. “A powerful encounter is what will take place this Sunday. So we're asking Women and young girls from our churches in Grand Bahama, from local Women's organizations to come and join us and be blessed.” Manager of Religious Tourism and Guest Services in the Ministry of Tourism Debbie Huyler, who has also played in intricate role in the delegation’s visit, said the ministry is also pleased when groups visit our shores. “It’s always good when we can have groups, summits or any type of conference coming here to Grand Bahama and it is always good when we are able to put an injection into the economy,” she said. “Secondly,” she noted, “ when it comes to religious tourism, being able to network with persons of this caliber, as these are mighty women of God, and have them come here and network with our locals we know that there can be an additional spin-off from this. For them want to come here to minister to our young ladies at Columbus House, be able to deposit in their lives and give them a word of hope is priceless. We welcome this type of tourism to Grand Bahama and we hope that this is not the last conference and that they are able to come back.”
