This year’s Cancer Society bike-a-thon Ride for Hope Bahamas is now less than a month away, and one team of women from
Grand Bahama are getting ready to pedal up and down the hills of Eleuthera on April 5th, all in the name of fighting cancer - a disease that knows no boundaries.
This international team of seven women – all parents of
Lucaya
International
School students – represent a real ‘United Nations of Grand Bahama.’
“We have cyclists in our group from the
UK, US,
France,
Sweden, and the
Netherlands,” remarked team organizer Mandy Plant during their Tuesday training ride.
“We are very excited about the event but also visiting Eleuthera and
Harbour
Island, which will be the first time for some of the ladies.”
The plan to attend the ride was hatched after Mandy rode 75 miles last year and couldn’t stop talking about how much fun the whole event was.
Over 100 cyclists of all ages and abilities, from all across the
Bahamas and the
US, are expected to congregate at the
North Eleuthera airport starting line on the morning of April 5th to ride their choice of distance between 20 and 100 miles to raise money for this great cause.
Thanks to corporate sponsor Bradford Marine, the Grand Bahama ladies’ bikes are being shipped to
Harbour
Island on the tow boat Mr. C, leaving the women free to buy up almost all of the seats on the regularly scheduled Regional Air flight.

To catch the remaining seats on the
North Eleuthera flight, hurry to the airport!
