Freeport, Bahamas – As the winter season descends upon The Bahamas, Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) partnered with the Rand Memorial Hospital's Swaddling Programme for the annual visit of the Governor General to the Grand Bahama hospital.

As a part of the programme, the Shipyard donated 91 blankets, 86 for each bed in the hospital and 5 blankets for the Physiotherapy Department.

Every patient in hospital on the day of the Governor General’s visit will be presented with a blanket to take home and on Christmas Day those patients in hospital on that day will be presented with blankets as well.

“We are very pleased to be able to do this for the Rand Memorial Hospital,” said Kay Smith, Director of Human Resources and Community Relations. “The Grand Bahama Shipyard has always been a huge supporter of the community in Grand Bahama so we’re happy to make this donation and to continue to support our local medical facility in their efforts to provide the best care to its patients.”

The administration team at the hospital was incredibly grateful for the donation and hopes that this effort will be the start of more great corporate partnerships with the hospital.

Catherine Weech, Hospital Administrator noted, “It’s always good to know we have corporate interest and sponsorship as the hospital can always benefit from companies choosing to include the hospital in their corporate outreach by donating either time or tangible items such as the blankets donated by the Shipyard.”

The blanket donation is just one of the Shipyard’s good deeds this holiday season.
