On Wednesday, December 15th, 2010, a dedicated committee of employees from Statoil South Riding Point hosted their annual children’s party for all the students in the East End school district. The festivities commenced at noon. Besides the sumptuous lunch that was provided, the children were regaled with bouncing castles, face painters and a host of other games and activities. The committee members also played Santa’s helpers and bestowed gifts and holiday stockings to the multitude of students that were in attendance. Although the celebration is one that is annually hosted by the company, the committee members cited that this one in particular held marked significance for them. One committee member was quoted as saying, “we hold this party every year but this one was very special. In light of what is going on in the global and local economy it meant so much more this year to bring a touch of Christmas to these kids.” Another committee member remarked, “at Statoil, one of our core values is Caring, not just for our fellow employees but for our community. Seeing the smiles on the face of the children and knowing that we helped to make their Christmas better, was worth all the hard work and sacrifice.” The Christmas party was a huge success and a great time was had by all. The committee expressed their hopes that their gesture made in the spirit of Christmas be a spark for others to do likewise and remember others during the holiday season.
