ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

In 1979 David Bowen moved from The Bahamas to New York on dance scholarships with the Alvin Ailey, Joffrey Ballet and Steps Studio. He continued his Hatha Yoga studies at the Iyengar Yoga Institute and Bhakti yoga practice at the Hara Krishna Center.

"I was encouraged to visit India by Swamiji where I studied mediation, yoga philosophy and Ayurveda in Goa, India. I taught yoga in New York and Sweden until I relocated to Tokyo, Japan in 1986 to join the Geki Dan Shiki Theatre Company.

"During my 10 years in Japan, I taught and developed a Hatha style of yoga based on a fusion of Sivananda, Ashtanga, Iyengar and classical Hatha Yoga based on Ayurvedic concepts.

He relocated to Turks and Caicos in 1997 where he taught Hatha Yoga at a number of
local gyms. In 1999 he trained with Yoga Master, Yogi Hari in Sampoorna Yoga and a
year later took up residence in Ocho Rios, Jamaica as Entertainment/Wellness
Manager with the Sandals Resorts, Grande Sport where he developed a Yoga Training
course for Sandals Fitness Instructors.

He return to the Turks and Caicos in 2002 and began teaching Yoga full time at all the major hotels and local yoga studios. David is currently the senior yoga instructor at Retreat Yoga and Wellness Studio and on staff at the Grace Bay Club as the Wellness and Entertainment Director.

"I also have a very vibrant private yoga practice and have been teaching a wellness concept for individuals and cooperate companies called SOFEPIES. This training is for persons looking to make that important transition from and unhealthy lifestyle to a healthier one by making common sense changes base on yogic principals."
