Freeport, Bahamas - Cognizant of the current voter registration numbers and determined to make her contribution to the process, businesswoman Ginger Moxey encouraged residents to take advantage of the Parliamentary Registration Department’s mobile drive at St. Georges High School on Saturday. Moxey has expressed her excitement about playing an even greater role in community development and has sent out a charge to residents to register to vote, particularly first time voters, in order to let their voices be heard. Demonstrating her optimism about the upcoming election, the Immerse Bahamas CEO and former Grand Bahama Port Authority Executive announced last Wednesday that she has also applied to the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) to become the candidate for Central Grand Bahama. It was at her first voter registration drive outside the Parliamentary Registration Department located in the National Insurance Building when the newcomer to the political arena revealed that she was answering the call.
Many have expressed excitement by Moxey’s application and her ability to reach out to a crosssection of residents, more specifically, the younger generation. “We need all hands on deck and I believe we must first start with becoming registered to vote,” said Moxey. Encouraged by the overwhelming response to the initial challenge, on Saturday, Moxey continued the push and was present at the mobile drive to greet the would-be voters and thank them for their efforts. “It’s time for a change. I wasn’t going to vote until I found out Ms. Ginger Moxey was interested in running and so I came out here to register this morning to vote and mark my X on that day,” Ronald Ellis said.
