Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – Children residing in communities in West Grand Bahama will receive assistance with their back to school preparations this year courtesy of The West Grand Bahama Youth Development Association and Total Educational Center. The ‘Back to School Fun Day’ scheduled for Saturday August 22nd will be held at The Hawksbill Community Center located on the grounds of the old Hawksbill High School, from 2pm until 6pm for kids in the surrounding communities which includes Hawksbill, Hunter’s, Lewis Yard, Sunrise and Wellington Subdivisions.

Entertainment, bouncing castle, free school supplies, free food, basketball and volleyball tournaments are some the highlights planned by the Association for the fun day, which will also give persons an opportunity to register for jobs through the Total Educational Center’s Job Placement Program and enroll in daytime and evening Technical and Academic Programs offered by Total Educational Center.

This past summer, The West Grand Bahama Youth Development Association hosted two free summer programs at Total Educational Center for young people in the community – a four week Summer Camp for ages five to fourteen and a three week Technical Camp for ages fourteen to twenty-one. Both programs enrolled a combined total of two hundred young persons and all expenses, including lunch, snacks and field trips, were covered by the Association.
