The Grand Bahama Power
Company wishes to advise the public that at approximately 7am, the power
was disrupted in the South Bahamia area.
According to reports,
a Sanitation Service vehicle while driving with its boom extended, hooked
into a main distribution line resulting in nine (9) poles and a bank
of three (3) transformers being brought down. Grand Bahama Power
crews were immediately dispatched to the scene and began to rebuild
and restore power. The crews were able to isolate the damaged
poles and power was restored to 85% of the customers within an hour.
The remaining 15% are expected to be without service for another 6 –
7 hours.
We will provide additional
updates should there be any changes and would like to take this opportunity
to remind the public to drive safely at all times.
The Grand Bahama power
company apologizes for the disruption in service and assures the public
that we are working to rectify the situation as quickly as we can.
