Chef Tim Tibbitts of Flying Fish wins GB Chamber Developing Entrepreneur Award

The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce held their 5th Annual Business Excellence Awards Ceremony, under the theme "Excellence in Hard Times"  on October 25th at the Regency Theatre in Freeport.  Chef Tim Tibbits, owner of Flying Fish Restaurant won the Developing Entrepreneur Award.

He told The Freeport News that he and his wife owe everything to their staff. He feels that because his chefs are able to read and repeat his 'mind, style, flavours, everything'  he is able to spend time promoting his business and the island.

"Business is about planning for the future," Tibbits emphasizes.

Having only opened two years and nine months ago, Tim and his wife, Rebecca, proudly claim to have reached their goal in half the time they expected. They believe that this has been achieved through hard work and dedication and by never "losing sight of what we wanted to do"  and the the importance of sharing goals with the staff.

The business awards are to recognizes businesses and business persons who have demonstrated commitment to community building. The Awards Committee based the choices on a number of factors including business age; nature of activities; historical performance/business achievements; contribution to Bahamian economy; management/employee relations; contribution to employment and employee training; commitment to fair and honest conduct in the marketplace; and contribution to the community, or a charity.
