Freeport, Bahamas –
Flying Fish was recently awarded a plaque for winning the 2013 Festival Noel
Chef competition by the Grand Bahama Branch
of the Bahamas National Trust (BNT). Chef Noel was chosen by the over
300 guests who attended Festival Noel held annually at the Rand Nature Centre
in Grand Bahama.
"Everyone
here at Flying Fish is proud and honoured to have been the people's choice for
Chef Noel” said Tim Tibbitts, Chef at Flying Fish. “It was a wonderful night and a very
entertaining time. We're also pleased that
the student chefs that joined our team for the evening have continued to come
to the restaurant as interns to continue their education in the culinary
field. That is the most rewarding thing
that could come out of this whole process and we are thrilled with the
outcome."
Tibbitts
noted that Amarie Smith, one of his Chef Noel interns has been training at
Flying Fish since the Chef Noel competition, even working on New Year’s Eve,
“because he loves the business we are in!”
Additionally, Renieka Laing, another student from the night will be
interning at Flying Fish as of next week.
Reneika will also be training to enter the young chef competition this
year, Tibbits noted, “They are a great group of kids and we're very happy to
have them.”
Lakeshia
Anderson, Grand Bahama National Parks Manager presented Flying Fish with their
award and commented, “The return of Chef Noel was a major contributor to the
overall success of this year’s Festival Noel. It was stiff competition between
our restaurants, with great food selections by all the participating
restaurants. Our congratulations to Flying Fish for winning the Top Chef title,
and to all the participating restaurants for a job well done.”
