Dottie, the character in Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot, Dottie too! and Who Let the Dog Out? by Carole Hughes on the beach in Grand Bahama Island.

Dottie the Daring Dalmatian who won our hearts with her fearless adventures in “Who Let the Dog Out???”  and “Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!!” by author Carole Hughes, is off on her very last adventure.

Sadly on Tuesday January 12th 2010, at the ripe young age of 16 years, Dottie departed this life to move on to new and even more exciting adventures.

Our hearts and love go with her, she will never be forgotten, but lives on in her stories and in our hearts...

Dottie visited schools with teacher Carole Hughes and was a beloved favorite with many, many nursery school children over the years. If anyone wishes to remember the loving spirit of this special dog, please consider a much-needed donation made payable to The Humane Society of Grand Bahama, noting "in memory of Dottie" on your cheque and mailing it to: The Humane Society of Grand Bahama, P.O. Box F-42741, Freeport, Grand Bahama,The Bahamas. Thank you.

About the Author

Carole Hughes was born in England, but is now a citizen of the Bahamas, where she has lived for over 25 years. Her previous book,"Who Let the Dog Out???" told the story of Dottie, her pet Dalmatian and her adventures in the beautiful Islands of the Bahamas. This book was chosen as the Bahamas' Minister of Education's Book Club Choice in November 2004, and is widely used in schools within the Bahamas. Now her second book, "Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!!!" continues to chronicle Dottie's adventures on the Island of Grand Bahama, where they both live. Ms. Hughes is a teacher and has also published many articles in local newspapers and magazines. The unique tropical flavour of her stories and her insights into the way that animals think, make her books a delight to read for all ages!
