Mother's Day is Sunday, May 11th and The Bahamas Weekly and Harl Taylor BAG would like to thank all those that entered in our "A Mother's Love" promotion, where we are aptly gifting the winner a "Dorothy BAG", which Harl Taylor named after his grandmother Dorothy, Beverly Taylor's mother. The Bahamian treasure is valued over $500.

Our winner is Nikia Wells of Nassau!   Honourable mention goes out to Dionne Benjamin Smith for her photo and story which we will feature.

The following is  the script for the very creative video production Nikia put together that will be posted here soon, but can be viewed on our Facebook page.

Nikia provided the following photos and said:

I love my mom!

My mother’s love cannot be adequately described with words - because, how do you describe pure, untainted, never ending, unconditional AWESOMENESS.

Dorothy Wells is the strongest, most resilient, loving, and kind woman that I know. And, that isn’t just because she spent about 18 months + 50 hours giving life to me and my sister...And, not even ONCE holding it over our heads. (She is cool like that!)

I hope that one day I could be half as good, as loyal, as kind, as strong, as funny, as nurturing, and as wise as my mother. She has unselfishly worked hard, along with my equally awesome dad, to raise my sister and I, and teach us not only life skills, but also how to be good people.

My mother hasn’t had it easy and nothing was ever handed to her - life for her “ain’t been no crystal stair.” (P.S. She taught me to like words, and books, and plays and stuff, too!) but she has worked hard to be the great woman that she is.

My mother is so awesome, I like to think she is the Chuck Norris... to Chuck Norris’ Chuck Norris.

She goes by many names - Dorothy, Mummy, Mrs. D, Aunty D, and Grammy D - but I think everyone in my family would agree that no matter what we call her, she has made us all better people, just by having her in our lives.

And, it’s the Dorothy BAG! My mother’s name is Dorothy. It was meant to be.

Love you mummy!!!!! deliver food and living supplies to victims...
