On Wednesday, 17th September, 2014, H.E. Eugene Newry, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the
United States of America paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ashok Kumar Mirpuri, Ambassador of Singapore to the
United States of America. Ambassador Newry was accompanied to the meeting by Mr. Chet Neymour, Deputy Chief of
Mission and Ms. Krissy Hanna, Second Secretary.
The
meeting centred on areas of commonality between the two countries
including the services sector, i.e. Tourism and Financial Services, as
well as
issues affecting Small Island Developing States (SIDS), among them,
Climate Change. Other areas of discussion included cooperation between
the two countries in the fields of air and maritime transport, port
development and economic development.
The meeting served as an opportunity to further enhance the existing bilateral relations with the
Republic of
Singapore and to seek ways of strengthening cooperation
between the two countries through the application of best practice
models and capacity building.
