“Leading Through Innovation and Transformation” the 2015 Theme

TORONTO, Canada – Mr. Robert Taylor, Chair of the Board, ELD Canada announced today that the 2015 Caribbean-Canada Emerging Leaders’ Dialogue (CCELD) is now accepting applications from energetic leaders with vision, a future focus, and strong personal values who are looking for a challenging, global experience.

“We are thrilled to be able to open the application process for CCELD 2015, and I am confident that we will be able to attract a stellar group of emerging leaders from across Canada and the Caribbean. Historically, we have been able to gather together some of the best and brightest, and I have no doubt that the 2015 dialogues will be no different.”

The 2015 Dialogue will pair leaders from different countries, across labor, business, government, NGO’s and civil society for two weeks to gain new skill sets in the moment. Under the theme, Leading Through Innovation and Transformation, the Dialogue promises to strengthen leadership capacity in Canada and the Caribbean, promote shared insights, and build networks.

Many Alumni from the 2011 Dialogues are actively involved in CCELD 2015 and they are vocal about the benefits of participating in an ELD Canada event.

“Through the CCELD 2011, I built a unique network of colleagues and friends – people I can call on for guidance and solutions,” says Kapil Uppal CCELD alumnus and Manager of Labor Relations at the Ontario Nurses’ Association. “They broadened my perspective, which I feel, makes me an even more valuable asset to my organization.”

“One of the dialogues major strengths is their ability to combine government, labor and the private sector together in working groups. Breaking down barriers to better working relationships is a mandate of CCELD”, comments Hemi Mitic, retired top official of the Canadian Auto Workers and now a Board member of ELD Canada, parent organization of CCELD 2015.

Sandra Massiah, Sub-Regional Secretary for the Caribbean at Public Services International, is in agreement. “This experience provided a “not to be missed” opportunity for trade unionists in the Caribbean and Canada to take international solidarity even further, to build strategic alliances and find the ways to build just and sustainable societies for all.”

CCELD 2015 will be chaired by HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne and will begin September 2015. The Princess Royal is expected to attend the closing ceremony and meet privately with the dialogue participants.

“The 2015 Dialogue will offer participants a unique learning opportunity that will challenge their assumptions and expand their global appreciation, while listening to other points of view in a fast paced programme,” commented CCELD President, HRH The Princess Royal.

Built on the proven model of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conferences, CCELD 2015 is a follow-up to the successful CCELD 2011. The Dialogue takes place from September 20 to October 4, 2015. Application Information
