Vancouver, BC, CANADA - Marjorie Julien, Second Secretary / Vice Consul, The High Commission for the Commonwealth of The Bahamas traveled to the west coast of Canada this week to assist Bahamians living in the region with passport renewals.

Ms Julien works at the Ottawa office and the passport clinic for Vancouver was announced in April 2016. The aim of the clinics is to facilitate passport applications for applicants who reside in cities outside of Ottawa, Ontario, particularly as handwritten passports were made invalid in February 2016 in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Standards.

While Bahamians have been encouraged to register via the High Commission's Survey in order for the Commission to ascertain the number of persons residing in Western Canada, Ms Julien told The Bahamas Weekly they had hoped more living in the area had registered.

The High Commission held a Passport Clinic in Nova Scotia at the end January and one will be held in Toronto in July of this year.
