Her Excellency Rhoda M. Jackson, Ambassador/Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of The Bahamas to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Geneva,  and Third Vice Consul at The Bahamas High Commission London, Miss Donyelle Ward represented The Bahamas at The 99th African Caribbean and Pacific States Council meeting and The 39th Joint ACP-EU Council Meetings in Nairobi, Kenya. The groups focused on issues impacting their regions and future plans for member countries to aggressively improve basic living standards, provide universal healthcare in their respective countries and create sustainable economic growth.

Seventy nine member states of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group and twenty eight members of the European Union declared their joint support for a strong global plan that seeks to eradicate poverty and address challenges and unique vulnerabilities of ACP countries.

The ACP-EU Council stressed the need to address specific issues faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and post conflict territories. It also recognized challenges in Middle Income countries.

The ACP and EU member states also called on all member countries and the international community in general to play their role in ensuring that public and private sector financing is available for the post 2015 agenda.

The next ACP Council meeting is in December; The Joint ACP-EU Council will meet in 2015.
