Bahamian Connection Festival, October 2nd in Florida

Port Salerno, FL - The New Monrovia Community Development Corporation announced that they will host their 13th annual Bahamian Connection Festival, on Saturday October 2, 2010. This year’s festival will celebrate the rich Bahamian heritage that represents the many residents of the New Monrovia community.

New to this year’s festival, will be the addition of more food vendors to the already vast list of Bahamian food options that will be available including Ochos Rios Jerk Restaurant, Conch Stop, and Sisters in the Pot. In addition to food vendors there will be craft and clothing vendors.

The festival is scheduled from 10:00am-6:00pm, beginning with a parade featuring Jawara’s Junkanoo Band followed by an opening ceremony at 11:00 am in the New Monrovia Park. Other festival features for the day will include:

·        The Port Salerno Church of God Gospel Choir on the main stage

·        Praise dancing

·        Tropical Soul Band

·        Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club

According to Gloria McHardy, president of the New Monrovia Community Development Corporation, “We are overjoyed to be offering this year’s attendees even more Bahamian food dishes like: fish, stewed conch, cracked conch, conch fritters, and more entertainment options than last year’s festival.”

The festival will take place at the New Monrovia Park located at 4455 SE Murray St, Stuart. The festival and parking are free for all who attend. For additional information regarding the festival, please contact Ms. Cheryl Longoria at 772-341-2161.
