SANQING MOUNTAINS, Shangrao, China - Bahamian photographer and journalist Eric Rose was a panelist at the recent Beijing International Micro-Film Festival "Young Directors in Hollywood"  training camp programme, held in the scenic Sanqing Mountain area of Shangrao, the People's Republic of China.

Mr. Rose, who is a Senior Information Officer in the Bahamas Information Services. encouraged the young directors to develop their story ideas and to bring the visual aspects of their micro-films up to the standard that would best represent their final vision of their product.  He also promoted the appeal of The Bahamas as a possible partner for future projects, including as a filming location and for entering their films into Bahamian film festivals, all of which could be done through contacting The Bahamas Embassy and Ministry of Tourism representative in Beijing for more information.

According to information from the Beijing International Micro-Film Festival Organizing committee, Hollywood filmmaker Jon Karas, Beijing-based actor and voice-over professional Randall Lowell Rees, Beijing International Micro-Film Festival Chief Wang Shaodong, Deputy Secretary-General Liu Qi, Hollywood International Entertainment Group President Jacky Liu, and Deputy Dean of the Communication University of China (CUC) New Media Institute Professor Cao Sanxing were among professionals and stakeholders who also all took part in the event.

The committee's website stated that participants discussed micro-film industry topics such as upgrading product quality, choosing the right location for the films, and creating quality short films to open a dialogue. Guests agreed on micro-films needing new and young directors, and that Sanqingshan mountain scenery is beautiful, so more young directors should film in the mountains to let the world know, through film, about the mountains scenery. Also, participants discussed the promotion of international personnel exchanges, encouraging international young people to create more movies there.
