Bahamians in D.C. area to celebrate Bahamas Independence

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Bahamians in the Washington metropolitan area and
friends of The Bahamas will celebrate the 41st anniversary of The
Bahamas’ attainment of independence with three major events this coming
weekend.
On Friday, July 11, an independence reception will be held at St. Regis Hotel, 923 16th and K Streets, N.W., Was
hington,
D.C., beginning at 7:00 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the
National Youth Choir, a Rake and Scrape Band, and DJ Pumpkin.
Then on Saturday, July 12, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Bahamian
Association will host a picnic at the U.S. Coast Guard Base, 7323
Telegraph Road, Alexandria, and on Sunday, July 13, an Independence
Church Service will be held at African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME),
1518 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. beginning at 10:15 a.m. The
National Youth Choir will perform at Church service.
The events are being coordinated by a committee headed by Mrs. Paulette Zonicle, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C.
