SAVANNAH, Georgia - The streets of Savannah reverberated with the pulsating sound of Junkanoo music as Barabbas and the Tribe participated in the city’s 19th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Historically, approximately 500,000 guests travel to Savannah from all over the world for the week-long celebration of the St. Patrick’s festival, and the parade has gained notoriety as the second largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade throughout the United States, next to the one held in New York.

Barabbas and the Tribe Junkanoo and Community organization has participated in the event for the past 13 years and The Bahamas junkanoo group delighted spectators along the 2.6-mile parade route throughout the city of Savannah.

The group’s leader, Quinton 'Barabbas' Woodside, added several Bahamian students who are matriculating at Shaw University in North Carolina to brass section giving them the awesome exposure and experience of participating in the parade.

As Junkanoo was displayed in colourful splendor, spectators were dancing in the streets to the collaborative sounds of the goat-skinned drums, cowbells and brass.

Mr. Jack Flanigan, owner of the Crab Shack, for the past 13 years has been the major contributor to group's performance at Tybee Island’s Irish Heritage Festival, which was held on Saturday, March 12, and Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17.

Before the parade began, the group was honored with the silver cup for 13 consecutive years and Friday, March 18, 2016 in Tybee Island was deemed a Barabbas and the Tribe holiday.
