Washington, D.C. - Twenty-three students from Bayview Academy on Augusta Street in Nassau, accompanied by 26 parents and two teachers, visited the Embassy of The Bahamas, 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., on Friday, February 28. The group, led by teachers Monique Munroe and Kimberly Dorsette, arrived in D.C. on Tuesday, February 25, and will return to The Bahamas on Sunday, March 2. They were welcomed to the Embassy by His Excellency Dr. Eugene Newry, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States; the Hon. Paulette Zonicle, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C.; and Deputy Chief of Mission Chet Neymour. Mrs. Monroe said the children were “very excited” to be seeing snow for the first, and the bitterly cold weather did not seem to bother them as they posed for this photo with Ambassador Newry, Consul General Zonicle and Deputy Chief of Mission Neymour in front of the Embassy, with snow that fell on Wednesday still visible on the front lawn and the temperature at the time around 28 degrees.
