ATLANTA - African-American civil rights leader and broadcasting executive Xernona Clayton will play Mas in The Bahamas May 7-9, 2015 with Bahamas Masqueraders during the inaugural Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival.
The creator of the Trumpet Awards Foundation and International Civil Rights Walk of Fame to honor the achievements of African Americans and civil rights advocates Xernona Clayton is once again building a bond in the African diaspora as she welcomes the Bahamas Masqueraders to participate in the 23rd Annual Trumpet Awards.
The event will be held January 24th at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia with a red carpet starting at 2 pm, which will feature a TV One interview with Bahamas Masqueraders, Rosel and Beverton Moxey. During the interview the two will share details about Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival and Bahamas Masqueraders. The interview will be later aired in February 2015.
Among this years Trumpet Awards honourees, is Bahamian native and Sunshine Holdings chairman Franklin R. Wilson. Honourees will also include actor Jamie Foxx, recording artist Janelle Monae, designer Tommy Hilfiger, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Brock, Carnival Corporation president and CEO Arnold W. Donald, recording artists/songwriters The Isley Brothers, as well as Morehouse School of Medicine president and dean Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice.
The Bahamas Masqueraders are honoured to have XERNONA CLAYTON be a part the inaugural Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival under the banner of #BahMas (Bahamas Masqueraders). This a great opportunity for The Bahamas to tap into a shared experience with others in the diaspora.
