The Most Rockin’ Family Event Of The Summer:
“Standing Ovation”
The All-New, High-Energy Movie Musical
Premieres In Theaters on July 16, 2010,
Cast to Hit Nassau for performance

It's been called a history-making 'tween musical movie, a combination of the high-energy of "High School Musical" and the pace of "A Minute to Win It." It's "Standing Ovation" and even before it opens in local cinemas July 16, the song, dance and teen drama film is making a unique connection with The Bahamas.

Producer Diane Kirman, Executive Producer James Brolin and Director Stewart Rafill have promised to bring what they named "the rockin'est cast of girls to hit the Jersey shore" to Nassau for a performance that will raise funds for children's homes, including Ranfurly Home for Children.

"We were very excited to hear about the plans to bring the cast of Standing Ovation to Nassau for a performance," said Craig Woods, Bahamas Film Commission. "I have worked with Diane Kirman before when she shot scenes of two other movies, both in Eleuthera, and she is a consummate pro who happens to love The Bahamas, which makes it all that much better. The fact that she is willing to bring in the cast for a performance as part of taking this lively movie international adds to the excitement.”

According to Standing Ovation spokesman Karen Rawlings, who was in Nassau yesterday, the plan is for everyone under the age of 18 who sees the movie at one of the Galleria Cinemas to hold on to their ticket stub.

"Present your stub at the door and you will be guaranteed a seat for the performance, an autographed photo and the opportunity to meet the cast in a private after-show performance on that Sunday afternoon," said Rawlings. "It's going to be great family fun."

The show with numbers directly from the movie will be held at the British Colonial Hilton Sunday, August 8 at 3 pm. CDs, posters, tank tops, tee-shirts and other memorabilia will be available for purchase with funds going to the children's homes.

"We're really excited about bringing the cast to Nassau because most of them come from the Jersey shore and have never been out of the country, so while they may be overnight sensations in the movie that will be one of the hottest hits of the summer, this is an incredible experience for them," said Rawlings. "And we are even more thrilled about assisting children's home which faced cutbacks in funding as a result of the economy. Standing Ovation is the feel-good music and dance movie of the summer and we hope it will be the feel-good experience for the children."

A positive tale of perseverance and passion, Standing Ovation arrives in theaters on July 16, 2010 featuring 20 original songs and 13 never-before-seen dance numbers that showcase an exciting cast of talented young newcomers as they learn the importance of loyalty, friendship and family on a journey to fulfilling their dreams. Presented by Kenilworth Films, Standing Ovation features a refreshing and talented cast of kids who tell the story through their optimistic eyes, resulting in a delightful plot filled with playful innocence. With its sincerity and connectivity, Standing Ovation takes the audience on the real-life journey of ordinary kids with extraordinary dreams. Directed by Stewart Raffill (The Adventures of the Wilderness Family), produced by Diane Kirman (The New Swiss Family Robinson) and executive produced by James Brolin and Dr. William Lewis, Standing Ovation is a film made by the children for the children, that gives the everyday kid a chance to turn their own dreams into their reality.  Standing Ovation is rated PG.

Showcasing a spectacular cast of young and talented actors, singers, songwriters, dancers, gymnasts and musicians from Philadelphia, Atlantic City and the surrounding areas, Standing Ovation reveals the undiscovered talent and drive of the East Coast’s youth. The cast’s dazzling performances electrify the screen with their innate charm, charisma and professionalism that extends well beyond their years, making the audience forget that some have never before stepped into the spotlight or performed in front of the camera. Every cast member has their own success story to tell which embodies the Standing Ovation message to ALL young people who have a similar dream, “If you are a Wannabe, then you Gonnabe!”

SYNOPSIS

Set in Atlantic City, junior high school best friends, Brittany (Kayla Jackson), Tatiana (Alexis Biesiada), Blaze (Pilar Martin), Cameron (Kayla Raparelli) and Maya (Na’jee Wilson) form the singing/dancing group, “The 5 Ovations.” Despite all odds, they chase their dreams of becoming champions in the biggest television music video contest of the year. They may be short on money, but they are rich in friendship, talent and hope and these street-smart kids use their wits, courage and passion to create some fierce musical performances.

When a national TV network announces a music video contest with a one million dollar grand prize, “The 5 Ovations” eagerly set to work on creating the perfect routine and music video. However, they must face off against their rival group, “The Wiggies” -- Ziggy (London Clark), Angel (Erika Corvette), Zita (Ashley Cutrona), Twiggy (Devon Jordan) and Zoey (Jeana Zettler) -- five rich, beautiful and scheming sisters whose performance trademark is their series of extravagant wigs and underhanded pranks. The Wiggies also enter the contest, helped by their flamboyant and unscrupulous father, Mr. Wiggs (Sal Dupree), who will stop at nothing to win … no matter what it takes!
