Recent Disney Cruise Line guests are reporting that they have ridden
the Pelican Plunge water slide (pictured at right) that was recently
constructed on Castaway Cay, Disney's private Bahamian island.
Pelican
Plunge was originally advertised as opening in summer, but that was
covered up and replaced with "Opening Soon" when I sailed in February.
You can see this in the photo below; note that the cabanas and new
children's area still say "Summer." Disney often does a soft opening for
its theme park rides, and Pelican Plunge is receiving the same
treatment. If you are taking a Disney Wonder or Magic cruise in the near
future, you may be lucky enough to get a ride. However, there are no
guarantees until after the official opening.

Disney Cruise Line has done a good job of not letting the construction
spoil the island's ambiance, but there are still some noticable signs
like the construction equipment at right. Current guests receive a
letter with their Castaway Cay information explaining what is going on
and apologizing for the inconvenient. You can see it by clicking here.
