Washington, D.C. - It was a “trip of a lifetime” for 50 Grade 6 Queen’s College students, who are returning to The Bahamas today (Wednesday, February 26) following a five-day educational visit to Washington, D.C. They were accompanied by 26 parents and five staff members: Mrs. Angela Culmer, Deputy Head of the Primary School; Mrs. Dorothea Lunn, Grade 6 teacher; Tamara Saunders, Grade 6 teacher; Mrs. Vivian Brown, guidance counsellor; and Mrs. Braquelle Newton. According to Mrs. Culmer, the group visited all the historic sites in Washington and it was “truly an educational experience” for the children. On Tuesday, February 25, when they visited The Bahamas Embassy at 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., it was snowing, and Mrs. Culmer said, “This is the first time the children have seen snow and they love it.” During their visit to the Embassy, they were welcomed by His Excellency Dr. Eugene Newry, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States; the Hon. Paulette Zonicle, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C.; and Mr. Chet Neymour, Deputy Chief of Mission.
