NEW YORK - Ms. Maria Sealy (left), a Bahamian national who owns Sealy Cuyler Funeral Home in Brooklyn, New York, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Forrester J. Carroll, J.P., Bahamas Consul General to New York, on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Bahamas Consulate General, 231 East 46th Street. Ms. Sealy, who was born in Nassau, has been involved in the funeral service business over twenty-nine years.

Her career in funeral service started in Miami, Florida, under the guidance of Athelia Range, Funeral Director and Owner of Range Funeral Home.  Upon completing training in Florida, Ms. Sealy returned to The Bahamas in 1989 and started her own funeral service business, Good Shepherd Funeral Home, and was its manager and funeral director until 1993. In November 2006, she established Sealy Cuyler Funeral Home, LLC, located at 1084 Pacific Street in Brooklyn, a state-of-the-art facility built from the ground up, the first woman of color to do so in the State of New York.
