WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senator
Heather Hunt, who is currently participating in U.S. State Department’s
International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), visited the Embassy of The
Bahamas, 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
In
the absence of His Excellency Dr. Eugene Newry, Bahamas Ambassador to the
United States, who is currently participating in Diplomatic Week in Nassau, Senator
Hunt was welcomed to the Embassy by Mr. Chet Neymour, Charge’ de Affaires a.i./Deputy
Chief of Mission; Miss Krissy Hanna, Second Secretary; and Mr. Mikhail Bullard,
Third Secretary.
The IVLP is the U.S. State Department’s premier professional
exchange program. Foreign participants are nominated by the U.S. Embassy in
their respective countries. According to the State Department’s website, “Through
short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in
a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting
relationships with their American counterparts.
Professional meetings reflect
the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals
of the United States.” Senator Hunt is one of 18 persons participating in the
