Meet Guy Harvey and See His Newest Documentary

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Conservationist and world acclaimed marine artist Dr. Guy Harvey is bringing a whale of a tale to Nova Southeastern University’s Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, January 30th with the South Florida premier of his latest documentary—Whale Sharks of the Yucatan: A Guy Harvey Expedition.

Produced by George Schellenger, a two-time Emmy® award winning filmmaker/producer, the documentary provides spectacular footage of Dr. Harvey’s encounters with the legendary whale sharks of Isla Mujeres. The film offers viewers an “up close and personal” experience with these gentle yet massive animals—which can grow to as large as 45 feet—as they mass in the hundreds for a few days for feeding off of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.

The film also brings viewers up close with sailfish and mako sharks, which also prowl the waters off the Yucatan. To view a trailer for the film, go to https://vimeo.com/72393613

Joining with Dr. Harvey, a PH.D in fisheries management, and Schellenger will be Mahmood Shivji, Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University’s Guy Harvey Research Institute (GHRI).

Cost to attend the film’s screening (6 to 8 p.m.) is $25, with proceeds benefitting NSU’s Guy Harvey Research Institute (GHRI.) Ticket price also includes a light reception with wines provided by Blue Fish and an opportunity to meet and participate in a Q&A session with Harvey and Shivji from NSU and filmmaker Schellenger.
