Eldred Bethel, High Commissioner and Permanent Representative of The
Bahamas to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), headed The
Bahamas' Delegation to the 114th Session of the IMO Council from 29 to 3
July 2015.
The Bahamas was one of forty IMO Member States on
the Council that were tasked with appointing the next Secretary-General
of the IMO during its Session on 30 June 2015.
After
five rounds of voting Mr. Ki-tak Lim from the Republic of Korea, was
appointed as Secretary-General elect having beaten five distinguished
candidates from the Philippines, Russia, Kenya, Cyprus and Denmark.
The Bahamas Delegation looks forward to working closely with Mr Ki-tak Lim when he takes up his post on 1 January 2016.
