Nassau, Bahamas - On February 4, 2021 newly arrived U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Usha E. Pitts met with Prime Minister the Most Honourable Dr. Hubert A. Minnis at the Cabinet Office on Rawson Square in Downtown Nassau, The Bahamas.

Chargé d’Affaires Pitts and Prime Minister Minnis discussed the many important areas of cooperation between the United States and The Bahamas, including our cooperation on disaster preparedness and COVID-19 response, collaboration on issues of regional importance, and partnership towards combatting climate change under the new administration of President Biden.

Chargé Pitts also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Darren Henfield, earlier in the week.

The partnership between the United States and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas is one founded not only on shared interests, but on the shared values of democracy, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of human rights.

Chargé d’Affaires Pitts began her tour at the U.S. Embassy in The Bahamas on New Year’s Day, 2021. In the past, she served at diplomatic posts in Russia, Cuba, Italy, Austria, Panama, and Brazil.  She has also served in Washington, D.C. and New York City.
