Voter Registration continues at Bahamas High Commission Ottawa

 Ottawa, CANADA -- The High Commission wishes to announce that registration of eligible persons to the 2017 Voter Register continues at the High Commission in Ottawa or during voter registration clinics in selected cities.
In this regard, The High Commission is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Voter Registration Clinic in Toronto from February 23-24, 2017 at the Bahamas Tourism Office located 2150 Islington Avenue, Ste 212, Toronto, Ontario M9P 3V4.
As a reminder, eligible persons to register overseas under the Parliamentary Elections (Amendment) Act, are: Bahamian students in full time studies overseas, Bahamian employees posted to any Bahamas High Commission, Embassy, Permanent Mission, Consulate, Maritime Authority and Tourism Office including their spouses. First time voters falling into any of these categories are also eligible to register. Residency in a constituency in The Bahamas is crucial in determining eligibility as an overseas voter.
Bahamians wishing to take advantage of this service should contact the High Commission to arrange an appointment during normal working hours (09:00 a.m. – 05:00 p.m.):

Please note that in addition to proof of Bahamian citizenship (valid Bahamian passport or voter’s card) and two passport sized photographs, persons planning to register to vote must provide either proof of current enrolment in a bona fide programme of study outside The Bahamas (a letter of enrollment from the school and a copy of a valid study permit), or employment with a Bahamas Government agency abroad (letter of employment).
Persons who have already registered on the 2017 Voter Register can choose to be enrolled as an overseas voter by completing Form J, available from this office and on the High Commission’s website, and returning the form to this Mission. Persons deemed to be overseas voters can vote at the High Commission in the Advanced Poll.
