The ugly Christmas sweater, a fashion phenomenon that invaded Britain's upper crust in 2001 with Colin Firth wearing his reindeer head sweater in Bridget Jones Diary has now inspired the ultimate holiday suit.

People have gone mad with the ugly Christmas sweater craze. Second hand clothing stores are filled with shoppers looking for that special sweater. Street stalls are piled high with red and green polyester as I walk along downtown Vancouver.

You can now purchase official licensed NHL Ugly Christmas Sweaters for your favorite hockey team such as Boston, Chicago and Vancouver.

But this fashion trend is not driven solely by men, it has been reported that women are now shopping for 25 unique holiday sweaters, allowing them to celebrate December as a fashionable Christmas Advent Calendar.

Not to be outdone by women, men can now take it to the next level with the ugly Christmas suit for their next holiday party with family, friends and even co-workers.

Available on-line by American based Shinesty, they are described as a ‘line of suits inspired by the ugly Christmas sweaters craze.’ Offering three unique options which include a matching tie, yours for only US$109.

The top inspired selling suit is “the Ugly Christmas Sweater Suit” in bright red which regrettably is already sold out.  Do not fear, as there are two other looks available as of press time, ‘the tacky Christmas sweater holiday tree’ suit in red and green and the ‘the ugly Christmas sweater suit – Rudolph Suave’ with white reindeer and snow flakes pattern on blue.

Is the Ugly Christmas Dress next? Happy holidays everyone!
