It may surprise you hear that retirement is not in your distant future but retirement is now!

This is so because the choices you make today will affect you for a lifetime and when  you get to that time when you retire you will be reaping the fruits of your  decisions. And this is why you should be paying attention to those choices you are making now because they are forming the foundation on which you will be building the rest of your life.

When I think about retirement, I think about retirement from the perspective that retirement is simply being able to do what you want to do when you want to do it without fear of running out of health and money.

So then the  two most important elements of your retirement planning are health and money.

Therefore it is up to you to ensure that you have plenty of both. And the only way that will happen is if you begin now to pay attention to the decisions that you’re making with respect to your  health and money.

I’m also reminded of a statement made by Dr. Robin Roberts,  a noted Bahamian Urologists, he said this - “good health is no accident.”  that statement continues to resonated with me - “good health is no accident.”

The lifestyle choices that you’re making today will eventually manifest themselves in your physical well-being. And that is why I am quick to rebuff the notion that “a belly full is a belly full” because according to Dr. Roberts’ comment “a belly full” could be what results in you not having the health you need in retirement.

And why I am quick to point out that most person are spending the first half of their lives shortening the second half of their life.
  1. Are you shortening your life everyday by the nutritional choices you are making?
  2. Are you increasing the likelihood that you will have one of the lifestyle diseases that plagues almost 80% of the population?
Diseases that you can certainly avoid if you simply take the time to consider your food choices.

Diseases such as high blood pressure, sugar diabetes, high cholesterol, chronic heart disease and chronic renal failure are all diseases that are the results of various lifestyle practices.

Not only will these diseases zap your strength and health during your retirement years but will also require a substantial amount of your money to manage, at a time when those money are already minimal, putting further strain on the quality of life that you can have.

I think that’s a compelling reason for you today to begin to look at the nutritional choices that you’re making and also to take steps now to strengthen you physical well-being.

And I don’t have to tell you about money! Suffice it to say that if you squander your financial resources now you will not have the money that you will need to do what you want to do when you want to!

Never forget that retirement aint later, retirement is now!
