Dear Associate;

I am sure that you are well aware of all the things that you would like to see, do, experience, acquire and achieve by December 31st, 2010. I would venture to say that even if a budget has not been set, even if a venue has not been identified, even if a specific target date has not been confirmed, you have all hopes for their respective achievements. Am I correct in this assumption? That is a personal perspective of you and the year 2010.

Let us apply these same aspirations to you and your Workplace.  Questions for the Associate: For the year 2010, do you know:

  1. Your workplace strategic plans?
  2. Your team/departmental goals?
  3. The forecasted changes to your job description?

If your answers to those questions were in the affirmative; “yes”, congratulations! You and your Workplace seem to have a thriving relationship where communication is paramount, it may be the workplace culture or how respect is shown to the Associates. Your workplace may be focused, aggressive, confident and well organized. You are probably a contented Associate who is prepared and well informed for what lies ahead. If you your answers were negative or partial yes and no, this present an opportunity to improve communication, inspire commitment, ignite, excite and release new opportunities.

Associates, may I offer three suggestions!

First, to those who answered in the affirmative, do not rest on your laurels; seek to maintain the present state and cultivate measures to extend this apex even higher.

Second, to those who answered one or more questions in the negative; Step it up! Identify the appropriate time, setting and Workplace Leader to ask your question(s).  Do not allow your intentions to be dashed by the paralyzing twin brothers; intimidation and fear. Be bold and courageous! Your question may just spark a transition that will change the course of Workplace legacy.

Third, those whose answers do not in anyway impact your level of interest in, passion for and commitment to your Workplace, perhaps 2010 is the year that you consider your options and discover new alternatives.
