The world is watching how the Bahamian
Government will help with the lack of funding for the Humane Society. So
many people from around the world stand with the people of the Humane
Society in their fight to receive the monies promised by the government.
I, like so many other tourists, will not return to the Grand Bahamas
until the government takes responsibility, in a compassionate and
responsible manner, for the welfare of its animal population.
Investing
in a group like the Humane Society, whom with the funding, could restore
the faith the rest of the world has in the great people of the Bahamas
and its natural beauty. If the government thinks it can wait it out and
ignore the problem they are sadly mistaken. Like the Humane Society,
those of us who follow the fight from abroad will not forget and give
up.
I will continue to spread the word in the states to the atrocious
conditions of animal welfare on the island. Having experienced first
hand the plight of animals I will never forget the amount of animals I
saw fending off garbage on streets or roaming so sadly through the small
towns.
I implore every Bahamian to urge your government to do the right
thing for its animals, people, and tourist industry.
