Finally they decide to pay the entertainers for a job that was done a long time ago. If I had not intervened, the Music Masters winners would still be waiting to be paid. They chose to go on vacation and not take care of their bills, all and all no respect for Bahamians. This whole carnival venture was a waste. This could have been done at less of a cost to the taxpayers and would have garnered more attendees if the committee had only listened to the majority of voices and removed the word carnival in the first place. This was not a successful event although all of the spin doctors claimed it was.

The government branded this event a success because they see Bahamians as fools who only see in political rally numbers. The government lied and the truth is coming out day by day but time will tell when, and if, they bring the forensic report on the carnival, that they have promised to bring to the public some time ago. I am sure that they will cook the books in their favour. No that crowd did not represent $8 million, not even close to it. The foreign artist were paid right away, why were some Bahamians made to wait? No one should have to wait a month or more to pay their staff and entertainers when the monies were allocated months and months ago.

The packaging is coming off this carnival gift and it doesn't look pretty. Lies after lies, deflection after deflection, although promised, no report has been given as yet on the carnival held in Grand Bahama. Where's the accountability? We spent $9 million, now I am hearing that the figure is $12 million, to promote Trini carnival and Soca music. What did the Bahamian entertainers get out of this? Nothing. Nothing but disrespect.

The radio stations are raining down Soca music on us, more than ever before. Remember we paid for this. I warned the government and the Festival committee about this but this is not a musician problem; this is a systematic Bahamian problem. If this were Bahamian pilots, hotel workers, photographers, nurses etc., it would be the same results. The foreigners are taken care of right away and the Bahamian should just be grateful for being acknowledged. If the foreign artist receives $100,000 and the Bahamian receives $15,000, how is the Bahamian to get as good as the foreign artist at such a disadvantage?

The hurtful part is that we are using our money to lift them up and to keep our own down. Will they be looking for another $9 million to invest in this Trini-style carnival again? Our leaders should be ashamed of themselves. They are "JOKEY"! Yes, we have “JOKEY LEADERS", especially the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture. He is supposed to be the keeper of our Bahamian culture, yet he changes his story over and over. The media can go back and trace his deceptive and sophomoric play on words, it's all documented and recorded for all to see and hear. I just wish we could trade them in for foreign leadership. If they don't believe in us, why should we ever believe in them? Obama will be free next year; let's recruit a real leader. Believe it or not we actually have sellout Bahamians defending the foreign culture. We have some saying, "I had so much fun at carnival." You know what having fun at someone else's expense is? That's called RAPE and we all know that is selfish and despicable. So once again I say, if this was done with private monies I would have nothing to say, but these guys are wasting our taxpayers’ dollars. That's equivalent to your husband or wife taking your children's college funds and giving it to someone else's children, leaving your kids to fend for themselves. We need to start over and truly invest in an authentic Bahamian festival and in our Bahamian people. I look forward to the powers that be to invest our monies in us. We have so much to offer and would someone truly believe in Bahamians please?! #bahamianculture
