Until the Politicians give birth to the promises of the declaration of Independence and the promises as outlined in the Constitution of the Bahamas, she will continue to travail and see a time of trouble. Politicians and many other Civic leaders have forgotten the promises made to our sons and daughters and the drive for freedom in the C harter of Independence. I address this issue because it keeps coming before me and as I declared 2013 the year of the woman, I will boldly say:

UNTIL THE BAHAMAS SEES AND ELECTS A FEMALE PRIME MINISTER WITH THE NURTURING QUALITY TO BIRTH THE THINGS NECESSARY THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE PLUNDER AND CHAOS OF ALL NATURAL RESOURCES. IT WILL TAKE SUCH A WOMAN WITH VISION, DESTINY AND PURPOSE TO CHARTER THE COURSE AND STEER OUR BAHAMA LAND TO ITS DESTINY AND PURPOSE.

Our sons and daughters await such rising. The men of the Bahamas in leadership have plundered and raped the country for their own purposes and have not seen fit to raise our brothers and sisters to a more noble life. As I wrote the following in 2013 I remind you here again: THE BAHAMAS IS PREGNANT!

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”(Rev. 12:1-2)

I BELIEVE THAT THE BAHAMAS IS "PREGNANT" AND ABOUT TO GIVE "BIRTH" TO NEW THINGS, NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH AND EXPANSION AND WOMEN SHALL LEAD THE CHARGE. I SEE OPPORTUNITIES SPRINGING FORTH IN AREAS THAT WERE ONCE DRY LANDS; OR LED BY A MALE DOMINATED SOCIETY. THEY SHALL FLOURISH EVEN IN TIMES OF DROUGHT. INDEED THERE SHALL BE: “NO MORE DRY SEASON!"

HOWEVER, IN ORDER FOR THIS GREAT PHENOMENON TO OCCUR, THE SONS OF GOD MUST FIRST ARISE AND REALIZE THE POWER OF THEIR PURPOSE AND DESTINY. IN ORDER FOR THE DAUGHTERS OF ZION TO BRING FORTH TO BIRTH THE EARTH MUST GROAN….THE BAHAMAS IS IN A STATE OF TRAVAIL!!

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”(Romans 8:19-23)

AND WITH THAT IN MIND MY MISSION STATEMENT IS CLEAR:

“God created the woman to be a life producing being. He called her ‘woman’, because she was ‘A man with a womb’! The purpose of her womb was to receive seed, incubate it, and produce life. However, through the years of hurt, pain, abandonment and abuse, many women have lost the ability to produce life. As Hezekiah the king said to Isaiah the prophet... ‘The children have come to the birth, but there is no strength to bring forth....’ (2 Kings 19:3). They have therefore, lost their purpose.

OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE: TO RESTORE PURPOSE BACK TO THE WOMAN.

BUT IN ORDER FOR THE WOMAN TO BE RESTORED, THERE IS ONE THING SHE MUST DO:

“OPEN HER MIND TO THE POSSIBILITIES AT HAND AND LET US TEACH AGAIN HER PURPOSE”

Pain and hurt; loneliness and depression; divorce and broken dreams can often cause a woman to close her mind (her womb and life producing possibilities) thus shutting down all that God intend for her to be.

“ARISE DAUGHTERS OF SARAH…OPEN YOUR MIND AND REVEAL YOUR PURPOSE!!”

EMPOWERING WOMEN:

I APPLAUD THE WOMEN OF THE BAHAMAS FOR THE STRIDES THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN AND FOR ALL THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AMIDST GREAT ADVERSITY AND EVEN SETBACK. YOU TODAY ARE THE SHAPERS OF TOMORROW AND THE FUTURE OF THE NEXT GENERATION. YOU SHALL BE CALLED: "THE REPAIRERS OF THE BREACH..." GO FORTH AND BRING TO THE BIRTH!

FOUR DECADES AGO THE BAHAMAS EMBARKED UPON A JOURNEY...IT WAS TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE....FORTY YEARS LATER SHE IS STILL SEARCHING FOR HER SOUL!! I IMPLORE EVERY BAHAMIAN, IN THE WORDS OF MY MENTOR, DR. DONALD MCCARTNEY..."YOU CAN BE A GOOD BAHAMIAN ANYWHERE"....LET'S START BEING GOOD BAHAMIANS...THE WORLD IS WATCHING US!

"LEADERS AREN'T BORN, THEY ARE MADE. THEY ARE MADE BY HARD EFFORT, WHICH IS THE PRICE WHICH ALL OF US MUST PAY TO ACHIEVE ANY GOAL WHICH IS WORTHWHILE." ~ VINCE LOMBARDI (1913-1970)

When I look at the caliber of persons whom we as Bahamians place in positions of leadership, I am often concerned about the reasons why they allow themselves to be placed in such positions because they do not have a clue as to the purpose and function of leadership..... Indeed, I do think that many of our leaders do not have an original idea in their individual and collective heads...However, they come from among us, and they are a reflection of us...We, as a people, have to be more discerning about the criteria for all aspects of leadership.... Those persons who are given the privilege to take on the mantle of leadership must understand that their national and personal mission as Bahamian leaders is to prepare the present generation for their future role as leaders. The present generation of leaders must pass on to the future leaders a heritage that is rich with hope, which will promulgate the politics of joy. Indeed if the present generation of leaders can pass on to our future leaders their rich history and heritage, which is the bedrock of their culture, they would have done their duty as the leaders of a proud people....

HEY PERRY…YOUR CHECK HAS BOUNCED!!!!

YOUR CHECK, MR. PRIME MINISTER, HAS RETURNED “NSF” AND MARKED “NON SUFFICIENT FUNDS”!

THE BAHAMIAN PEOPLE HAVE COME TO CASH A CHECK, WRITTEN ON THE PROMISES OF ITS POLITICIANS; YOUR CHECK, MR. PRIME MINISTER, HAS RETURNED “NSF” AND MARKED “NON SUFFICIENT FUNDS”! THIS WE CAN’T ACCEPT NOR BELIEVE THAT THE BANK OF BAHAMIAN OPPORTUNITY IS BANKRUPT!!!

OUR CHILDREN CRY IN FEAR IN THEIR HOMES AND ASK THEIR PARENTS:

“Where is the land you once spoke of? You said it was better in the Bahamas. But instead we are not safe in our schools, on our play grounds, walking down our streets. Where is the Bahamas of Pindling and Hanna, of Cecil and Fawkes and of Solomon and Turnquest? You said we were a proud people; you told us of stories of that great Independence Day in 1973. Where are the dreams that guide us and the hope that sustains us? Please tell us if you can.”

Mr. Prime Minister, tell them if you can. You were there; you were a part of that great day and so was I. I stood a proud young Bahamian in gold and white as we raised the aqua, gold and black, and lowered the Union jack for the last time. Mr. Prime Minister, a nation was born and forty years later we see a nation about to crumble. Do you have the answers sir? In Bain town the people are singing the blues as gangs roam our streets and kill as if life is of no value; robberies and things once unheard of are a daily occurrence; people being burned alive in their homes boarded up and the only explanation is: “mistaken identity”. Vigilantes run rampant in our nation and take the law into their own hands. But instead of fighting these crimes and creating a task force for justice, you would employ man power to round up a few helpless and innocent Haitian refugees seeking only a better life for they and their children; and instead of address the problems of your nation, you’d rather pick a fight with a dead dog like Fidel Castro upon whose neck the American boot now stands. Is it so easy for you, Mr. Prime Minister to run and frolic with the young skirts of the country, partying on the tax payer’s money and not be accountable?

IT’S A NATION THAT FORGOT GOD AND PROPHECY IS COMING TRUE:

Men like William Johnson; k. D. Josie; Simeon Hall; Errol Simmons; Robert Hall; Rufus Sweeting; Randy Simmons and many other voices spoke to this nation in the seventies and early eighties of times like this. Men like Dr. Donald McCartney who through his own blood, sweat, and tears marched for freedom and dared to teach young men and women the truth that they would face; men like Rodney Moncur who heralded the cause for justice in a nation that seemed void of such; women of the suffrage moment who toiled to endure that we could “lift up your head to the rising sun Bahama Land”. It was the best of times and the worst of times, it was the drug times, but a nation did not listen. We spoke against the coming of Bob Marley and the influence of the Rasta upon our nation, and tried to steer her right, but we were ostracized by our own people. Yes we spoke of this some thirty years ago when we were just but a young Nation.

JUSTICE DEMANDS A VERDICT:

Now we see the mess we find ourselves in and God will not bless the Bahamas until this mess is fixed. Many good Bahamians and their children were hurt in the greed and cross fire of political wars and payday is now. You wrote a check to this nation but it has come back returned and marked “NSF”, Non-Sufficient Funds. And now it has to be cashed! This, Mr. Prime Minister is the reaping and our children are paying the price of your expensive lifestyle. What the fathers have eaten of the sour grapes has put the children’s teeth on edge.

WE THEREFORE DEMAND THE FOLLOWING:

1. Give us back our Nation
2. Give us back our children
3. Give us safe streets and homes to live in
4. Give us the freedom that Lyndon Oscar Pindling heralded.
5. Give us back our shore and our resources.
6. Give us back our pride as a people.
7. Give us back our jobs and the right to feed our children.
8. Give us back safe schools where our children can learn.
9. Give us back our once proud culture.
10. Give us back our rights to say: “I am proud to be a Bahamian”.
11. Give us back our tourists

DO IT NOW, MR. PRIME MINISTER, REVOLUTION MAY BE IMMINENT!

It is only then can we truly sing that song we are all so proud of:

“Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahama land;
March on to glory, your bright banners waving high.

See how the world marks the manner of your bearing!
Pledge to excel through love and unity.
Pressing onwards, march together to a common loftier goal;

Steady sunward, tho' the weather hide the wide and treacherous shoal.

Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahama land, 'Til the road you've trod lead unto your God, March On, Bahama land.
