Dear Editor,

I
was given the opportunity to attend high school in Atlanta Georgia for
two years. I really wasn’t aware of the sheer amount of ignorance in the
world until I went beyond my country’s borders. For the two years I
lived there I was the barbaric Islander who knew nothing of the
civilized world.

When people hear that you are from The Bahamas
there are many stereotypes that a Bahamian would undergo. I mean I’ve
heard from fake Jamaican accents to the age old question “do you use
coconuts for telephones?” but my personal favorite has had to be this
one,

“What is it like to live in a hut?”.

Government’s ship by Moody’s Corporation, and the U.S. State Department's 2012
Crime and Safety Report are the first formal signs of the struggles which the
new administration will have in preventing the ultimate sinking of the Bahamian
economy. From within the Country, there have been reactionary criticisms of
Moody’s “Negative Outlook” Statements warning the new administration that they
essentially do not have the money or fortitudes to implement an expensive
“Residential Mortgage Rescue” campaign promise. The U.S. State Department's 2012
Crime and Safety Report ranked the crime situation in New Providence as
“Critical”, its most ominous ranking...

Monday 7th May saw the return to parliament of
the Progressive Liberal Party (as the government) led by the Rt. Hon. Perry
Gladstone Christie, replacing Hubert Ingraham’s Free National Movement and
signaling the end of a brutal five-year economic period which claimed the
majority of assets and other financial
resources of hundreds of unsuspecting and unprepared Bahamians.

Particularly for Grand Bahama was
the significance of the election of Dr Michael Darville, a well knownn and
well –loved medical practitioner and Mr. Gregory Moss a lawyer/businessman by

campaigns for public office, his recent letter suggesting that Mr.
Hubert Ingraham cannot be trusted because of his personal experience

time in Bahamian politics.

Mr. Dupuch's argument rests on three specific points:
