46 Haitian migrants apprehended in Exuma, Bahamas

(19th March 2016) -- On 19th March 2016, Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessel, Her Majesty's Bahamian Ship P-44, coxswained by Chief Petty Officer Ross Seymour arrived at HMBS Coral Harbour with 46 undocumented Haitian nationals on board.

The migrants (36 men, 7 females, and 3 children) were on board a wooden sailing vessel that arrived off Farmers Cay, Exuma this morning where they were subsequently apprehended by Police stationed on the island.

P44, which was on routine patrol in the area at the time of the incident responded by transporting the migrants to Coral Harbour where they were handed over to Bahamas Immigration officials for further processing.
