47th Association of Caribbean Historians Conference Explores Reparations, Race, Health

Nassau, Bahamas -
Historians and academics converged on New Providence recently to analyze through an historical lens some of the most pressing development, cultural and social issues facing countries around the world. One of the most high-profile gatherings of the region, the 47th Annual Association of Caribbean Historians Conference attracted scholars of history, policy makers and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
They examined a wide range of matters including compensation and reparations; public health and welfare; British slavery; race and identity; poverty and the development of the Caribbean diaspora. Host organization, The College of The Bahamas, also engaged high school students in the conference’s activities through an essay competition on migration.
The conference was held May 17th – 22nd at The College’s Oakes Field Campus.
