ALICE TOWN, BIMINI Bertrand Myre, a Quebecois social worker and former mayor of St-Lazare, Québec has purchased Bimini Water Sports and renamed the operation, Bimini Quebec Water Sports, an aquatic activities center located adjacent to the docks at the historic Big Game Club Resort and Marina.

Bimini residents Julian Albury and Benjamin Rolle will operate the facility.  All profits earned, according to Myre, will be used to help fund the Bimini Québec Project, benefiting Bimini residents.

Myre has added new water sports rentals to the facility, including sailboat and powerboat rentals (guided and bareboat), kayaks and paddleboards.  Day and sunset sailing, reef fishing and trolling, snorkeling and mangrove tours as well as sailing and yoga classes will be offered to better serve the public interest in a wider ranger of family-oriented activities on this popular Bahamas out-island destination.

For more information on Bimini Québec Water Sports, email biminiquebec@live.ca or call 242-464-5645.

Myre, a frequent visitor to Bimini, launched The Bimini Québec Project, established to bring Canadian youths and adults to Bimini to carry out projects under the guidance of La Station Vaudreuil, a non-profit organization working with Le Cirque du Soleil since 2003 and the Montreal National Circus School since 2010. One of the non-profit’s initiatives has been to help prepare Biminites to create their own circus troop through circus performers or trainers workshops. In another project, groups from Quebec sent to Bimini re-faced 25 Bimini houses on King’s Highway.

The Big Game Club, www.biggameclubbimini.com showcased three circus performers, who performed for guests, island visitors and residents over the last Christmas holiday week.

“Bertrand brings a passion to his work and undoubtedly is a true friend to those who live and work here,” said Michael Weber, Big Game Club General Manager.  “This aquatics facility continues to fill a very important need in providing activities that can be enjoyed by the entire family.  It’s a tremendous asset for us.”
