NASSAU, Bahamas - BTC remains committed to restoring services to the stricken South East Islands. BTC advises that 4G LTE data services have now been restored to Deadman’s Cay Long Island. This allows customers with LTE data services to use the internet on their mobile phones. Additionally, BTC has advised that a Call Center has been opened at the Deadman’s Cay location, where customers can access landline and internet services. Today, BTC also opened another Call Center at the main station in Cabbage Hill, Crooked Island will be available for residents daily, between 9am-5pm.

As an update:

1.    BTC’s Assessment and Restoration teams were on the ground in the affected islands once the “all clear” was issued by the meteorological officials
2.    BTC has restored all services in Exuma and Cat Island
3.    Cellular services in Cockburn Town, San-Salvador have been restored
4.    On Monday, October 5th, BTC opened Call Centers in Ragged Island,

Clarence Town Long Island and Inagua, allowing residents to make calls and send emails to family members and loved ones.

BTC remains in contact with its teams in the South East Islands through satellite phones. Team members on these islands are working night and day to restore services.

BTC has implemented “Each One Reach One”, a text to donate initiative allowing all mobile phone users the ease of donating to the Hurricane Relief cause. By sending the text message "HELP” to 5200, customers can donate $1. All proceeds will be matched 50% by BTC and the Brickell Management Group, thus doubling the contributions.

BTC team members also stepped up to the plate and have started a clothing and supplies drive. Employees will also make donations through salary deductions to assist with rebuilding efforts. The cash donations will go towards a building fund to assist fellow employees in the South Eastern Islands.

Hurricane Joaquin has left many BTC team members in the South East Islands displaced. Many team members have suffered tremendous personal damage and losses. In spite of this team members in these areas are at work, doing their part to restore services.
BTC will continue to provide disaster recovery updates as they are available.
