Bahamas Business Outlook ‘15 planned for Jan. 29

The 24th Annual Bahamas Business Outlook (BBO) is scheduled to take place January 29th, 2015 at Meliá Nassau Beach Resort. With a focus on “Securing The Bahamas through Planning, Partnership and Productivity, It has been confirmed that Prime Minister the Rt Hon. Perry Christie will deliver the Keynote Address and Hon. Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Immigration will also present.

Making the announcement was Joan Albury, President of TCL Group and founder and chief organizer of BBO and sister Outlooks on six other major islands. BBO has come to be regarded as the premier symposium, which gathers leaders of the public and private sectors to discuss the economic and business outlook for the year ahead.

With the partnership of National Development Plan, the Business Outlook is adding a special offering this year—a number of workshops that will put an intense focus on a number of current, high profile issues of concern and allow for the direct involvement of participants.

Mrs Albury revealed and commented on TCL’s choice of speakers, led by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth as has become the tradition for the prestigious forum.

“We are grateful that Prime Minister Christie has consented to give the keynote address again this year. We are fortunate also to be having the participation of Hon. Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Immigration. It is essential to have at the level of the National Cabinet, particularly from the Prime Minister, as the Bahamas Government must play the lead role in securing the country’s future, especially as regards development,” TCL’s president said.

Mrs Albury added, “The other speakers are all leaders representing the sectors, investors, organizations, investors and events that will play an extremely important and even decisive role in 2015, as regards the degree to which we achieve high quality planning, partnership and productivity—the three Ps of sustainable development. TCL’s Business Outlook Series, which has now expanded to seven islands, was developed because Bahamians need quality information about vital issues in order to join in the national decision-making.”

Joining BBO on January 29 will be Gowon N. G. Bowe, President, Bahamas Chamber of Commerce & Employers Confederation; Hon. Fred Mitchell, MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs &Immigration; Daniel Liu, Sr Vice President, China Construction Company; Mike Maura, Jr, President & CEO Arawak Port Development; Rodney D Smith, President, The College of The Bahamas; Amanda Coulson, Director, National Art Gallery of The Bahamas; Mike Sands, Deputy Chairman, Local Organizing Committee—IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2015; Paul Major, President, Brickell Management Group Ltd; Chairman, National Festival Committee and Felix Stubbs, Chairman, Steering Committee, National Development Plan. Nicola Virgill-Rolle, Ph.D, who will give the highly anticipated the “Vision” presentation.

“We are expecting a very revealing and lively forum. Each one of the interests that will be represented on the 29this key to the way forward—immigration, the partnership of the business community, foreign direct investment, port development, education, the cultural sector, and world-class attractions that will draw visitors to our shores. Of course, there must be a feasible development plan that binds all the elements together,” Mrs Albury said. “We are most grateful to our speakers, faithful sponsors and those who attend each year.”
