Grand Bahama Island - Robert “Robbie” Butler, younger brother of Jeffrey B. Butler Sr., has joined the Butler Group of Companies as Chief Executive Officer.   Robbie joins his older sibling who serves as Chairman,   to run the “The Butler Group of Companies” which comprises Butler’s Specialty Foods and The Irish Pub Limited, d.b.a. Shenanigan’s Irish Pub & The Harbour Room Restaurant which specializes in Caribbean & European Cuisine.   Both of these restaurants are located in Port Lucaya and boast of being two of Grand Bahamas’ finest eateries.

Butler’s Specialty Foods (whose motto is: “creating a higher standard”) has been in business on Grand Bahama for twenty five years.    It is a distributor, wholesaler and full line Grocer serving Freeport's Finest Restaurants and Hotels and carries the largest selection of quality international health and gourmet foods on the island.

The Butler Group of Companies prides itself in finding and importing quality products from all over Europe, Asia, and North America, importing over 1500 items from 37 countries.    The company’s goal is to help the islands create a higher standard in service and product by bringing the best of Europe, Asia, and North America to Freeport and the out islands.

In his new capacity Robbie will be bringing to the table over twenty years experience in sales within the food and liquor business, carrying on the tradition of his Grand Father, Henderson Butler, the founder of Butler and Sands liquor stores.   Experiences which will guide him in the expansion of Butler’s Specialty throughout the island of Grand Bahama and the out-islands.

Robbie, like his Brother, and Father Bernie Butler, is a champion swimmer having qualified for the 1980 Olympics in Moscow Russia. However Robbie was unable to fulfill his dream of competing in these games, as The Bahamas, like so many other countries, decided to boycott this Olympics.   Robbie has served on the Board of B.A.S.R.A   and has competed in their marathon events for thirty seven years.   He has been actively involved in Bahamas Rugby for twenty five years having played on the National Team.

When asked how he felt about joining the family business, Robbie had this to say, “I look forward to working with my Brother for the further expansion of Butlers and to create an even higher standard for the people of Grand Bahama.   Over the next several months it is our intention to increase our product line while doing our best to maintain our high level of quality service.   We will do our best to maintain the lowest possible prices on Grand Bahama despite the increase in U.S. products and shipping costs. Considering today’s economy it will be a challenge, but one that I am willing to take on.”

Jeffrey Butler had this to say about his Brother joining the company, “It is a honor to have my Brother step in and take over the duties of the company that were previously held by myself. My two sisters work within the Butler Group of Companies and with Robbie joining us, the circle is now complete.” Mr. Butler went on to say that with his Brother on board it allots him much needed time to pursue other matters that are of great importance to him.   Mr. Butler is venturing into other areas of the corporate sector but was not able to elaborate in detail at this time.   He did say this,   “My future endeavors will encompass working closely with the Government and the Grand Bahama Port Authority in their efforts to improve the economy on Grand Bahama.”
