A delegation from The Bahamas traveled to Port-au-Spain, Trinidad and Tobagoo attend a CLGF Regional Programme Consultation Meeting “Strengthening local government’s role as a partner.” The delegation incudes Philip McPhee-BALGA &CALGA President, Charles D. King Atg. Director of Local Government, Chervita K. Campbell-Chief Councillor CFC/Secretary of BALGA, Glenn Davis-Town Chairman Exuma/1st Vice BALGA and Stephen Pedican Chief Councillor N. Abaco. The 3 days of meetings brought together all of its partners in the region such as CALGA, IADB, UNDP, CARLIED and EU which discussed project initiatives, challenges faced within respective LG, data collection (ICT), local government reform, achieving SDGs, LED, 2030 Agenda, and strengthen national local agenda. The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) works to promote and strengthen effective democratic local government throughout the Commonwealth and to facilitate the exchange of good practice in local government structures and services. CLGF has most of 53 Commonwealth countries including local government associations, individual local authorities, and ministries dealing with local government as well as associate/observer members. Caribbean Association of Local Government Authorities (CALGA) regional association of local government whose goal is to strengthen democracy and advocate on issues, initiative projects, and seek global funding for developing countries.
