Nassau, Bahamas - Commonwealth Bank is the first commercial bank in The Bahamas to offer its customers the added convenience of “full service” Saturday Banking.  The extended hours of business operation, currently available at two branch locations - Prince Charles Drive and Golden Gates - will offer the full array of personal banking services from 10am to 1pm every Saturday.

“As part of Commonwealth Bank’s continuing efforts to better serve our customers, the implementation of full service Saturday Banking is essential,” said William B. Sands, Jr. President & CEO.  “Today, it has become increasingly difficult for our average customer to attend to their banking needs during the weekdays without the added stress of increased traffic congestion, a demanding work schedule and personal commitments. Our goal is to satisfy their need for an adequate amount of time to conduct their face-to-face transactions, by making banking convenient and more accessible than ever.”

The Bahamian bank introduced Saturday Banking services at the opening of its new Prince Charles Drive Branch in September of this year. Due to the tremendous response to Saturday Banking from its customers in the east, Commonwealth Bank made the decision to extend this service to its customers in the south by offering Saturday Banking at the Golden Gates Branch.

The Prince Charles Drive and Golden Gates Branches - both bordering very active commercial and residential areas - will offer the full range of banking services – loans, deposits, foreign exchange and all other normal banking transactions on Saturdays.  Drive-through teller services is also available.

Commonwealth Bank is one of the largest and most successful banks in The Bahamas, with more than 6,500 shareholders and over $1.3 billion in assets. The Bank continues to lead the industry in service and convenience with eleven state-of-art, branches in New Providence, Abaco and Grand Bahama to provide the best possible access to an extensive line of products and services, convenient lobby and drive-through teller hours, safe deposit, 24 ABM services, ample parking facilities and now full service Saturday Banking.  In 2010, Commonwealth Bank will celebrate fifty years of banking excellence.
