Grand Bahama's Misty Thomas named Supermodel of the Bahamas 2015

Nassau, Bahamas - 20 year old  Misty Thomas has been chosen Supermodel of the Bahamas 2015 during a finale event that took place on June 7th at Avista Coffee Lounge & Bar.  In all, seven contestants took part in the competition, hailing from New Providence, Andros, Cat Island, Inagua, Grand Bahama and Exuma. 

The 5'9" BTVI graduate, Grand Bahama native said she is looking forward to going to College of The Bahamas to study fashion design, and is happy and ready to grace the runway again. "I am excited to see where Supermodel of the Bahamas will take me," said Misty, " and I look forward to traveling and meeting new people!"

Plans are in the works for Misty to travel to Canada to walk in Vancouver Fashion Week this fall.

Supermodel of the Bahamas is the #1 model search in the country which discovers new faces and new vocal talents. Similar to America's Next Top Model the candidates are selected, trained and pushed to perform, whereupon it becomes obvious after photo shoots, runway shows, and interviews, who is made for the life of a model. 

"I would like to thank God for allowing my victory," said Misty who has past experience in pageantry and has previously modeled for Bahamian designer, Veronica Ellis. "I want to also thank my family, my church and my friends for their support and dedication. Thank you Supermodel of the Bahamas for this awesome experience!"

Misty also won the online voting category. She was sponsored by Kingdom Harvest Global Ministries. For the 3-day event, she wore shoes, bikini, evening wear, and jewelry provided by Patrice clothing store, Jonwes shoe store, Bandolera, Fanny's Lingerie, Le Chic Boutique, Animale, Martha's Souvenir Shop, and Veronica Ellis designs.

"I am overwhelmed with the quality of young women I confirmed this year!"said Oilinsha Coakley, Founder SMB, and owner of Oilinsha Models and Talent in Nassau. "The sold out shows have proven that the event is catching on regardless of our financial constraints. The audience raved after the performance of each girl. I am grateful to my hardworking former modeling student, our assistant-director, Mona Lisa Smith in organizing the contestants."
